Nicole and Jason celebrated their wedding in the neighborhood they called home at City Winery Chicago. Emma Mullins Photography captured the glowing candlelit ceremony in the Barrel Room and intimate reception with family and friends, along with some treasured moments in the West Loop!
The First (and Second!) Date
Our first date was at Cindy’s Rooftop, on a perfect Chicago summer night. Given we were strangers before meeting, that first night was a lot of small talk about our interests, our friends, our families. But there was an immediate sense of ease in conversation. I left being excited about the next date.
The next morning, Jason made plans for date #2 that upcoming weekend – a Cubs game. I had no idea what a special place Wrigley was for Jason! He lit up like a little kid when we got to the baseball park. A perfect afternoon.
Jason proposed on March 24th. The morning of, he told me had a surprise and had reservations to Girl & The Goat, a place we’d been wanting to go to together. I thought the dinner spot was the surprise, but little did I know Jason had more planned for the evening. Dinner was followed by cocktails at the spot of our first date – Cindy’s Rooftop. And even with a cold rain shower, we ended the night with a walk across the street to Millennium Park, where Jason and I said “I love you” for the first time the summer before. He got down on one knee and the rest is history!
Jason and I wanted an urban chic setting for our wedding, and City Winery was the ideal spot. Its location in the West Loop—the neighborhood Jason called home before we got married—made the location especially fitting. We shared a lot of fond memories in the area and knew that sharing our wedding day in that neighborhood with our family and friends would be the perfect way to celebrate the big day and start our married lives together.
