The Proposal
We got engaged on our first big international trip together in Europe! Our first stop was in Copenhagen. Mark was very sneaky in letting all of my family members know it was going down just before we left, probably because he knew full well they couldn’t keep a secret like that for very long. On one of our first nights we took an evening stroll to the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. We got coffee and walked around–surrounded by beautiful gardens, birdhouses, rides, art, and music. We were sitting on a bench, and I suddenly noticed Mark getting a little shaky–which is very unlike him, as he’s normally very cool and collected. We walked over to a small secluded pond, and he got down on one knee and proposed. It was so magical because it was just the two of us in this very special place. I immediately started to cry so, I think to this day he still doesn’t think I actually ever said “yes”.

Wedding Details
We really wanted something simple and elegant. We wanted a more modern wedding without too many “traditional” elements, and instead really wanted to focus on us and our loved ones. We really wanted the space to sort of speak for itself, and also allow for the flowers to bring the space to life. For us, one of the best memories was our first look. The weather was absolutely perfect on our wedding day, and we had a beautiful view of the city on top of the Robey Hotel. Our photographer Ellen [Ellen Gustafson Photography] was so thoughtful and kind during our first look, and obviously we got some dope pictures out of all of our tears too!
Another awesome memory from the day (aside from the ceremony and the amazing food [Smoque BBQ]), was our Karaoke! We obviously couldn’t have a huge dance floor for the safety of everyone, so my mom was kind enough to buy us a portable Karaoke set for the wedding. It was a really fun way for everyone to let loose and still sing a few tunes while still masked!
