Lincoln Park Conservatory Engagement Session

Terri and Karl met almost 15 years ago as teenagers, and Karl proposed on their anniversary! They joined Cinder and Vinegar Photography at the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool for their Lincoln Park Conservatory engagement session!

How We Met

We were both in our senior year of high school and got jobs working at a movie theater. That job was one of the most fun I’ve ever had! Everyone that worked there got along so well and it felt more like getting paid to hang out with friends than having a summer job. Karl and I were friends first but that changed about two months into our friendship when I realized I had a crush on him at a group outing to six flags. The next week he came to visit me while I was working and had a friend deliver a note to me. The note said, “I like you and a friend told me that you like me so I was wondering if you wanted to be my girlfriend.” I found him, told him that yes I like him and yes I would be his girlfriend and then we hugged.

Our Proposal Story

It was a weekday evening so we didn’t have any special anniversary plans until the weekend. Karl came home from work, hopped in the shower like he always does but when he was done getting freshened up he said he forgot something in his car and that he’d be right back. He came in with a shopping bag and set it on the kitchen counter, then said happy anniversary, go open your present. I got up to open the back and just as I was about to pull away the tissue paper he was behind me and said you may want this one first. I turned around and he was down on one knee and asked “Will you marry me?” I was in a state of excitement and shock! My first response was “Are you serious?” which was immediately Followed by a yes!
