Our Story
Our story began under an umbrella in Montauk, New York at Surf Lodge. Never have we been so happy to be at an outdoor restaurant on a rainy day. Catherine ran under one of the large outdoor umbrellas, Alexander shortly followed, and said, “Hi, I’m Alexander. How are you?” You know the saying, “You had me at hello?” It happened. Our initial conversation consisted of talking about our love for Mexican food and discovering we lived 2 blocks away from each other in New York City’s West Village.
Alexander proposed at his family’s home, in the front yard, in North Carolina (also under an umbrella!). He dropped to one knee that perfect rainy afternoon and I said yes!
Favorite Memories
As cheesy at it sounds, the first word that comes to mind is “magical.” I locked down the man of my dreams and was so excited to make it official with all of our family and friends there to celebrate.
The day started early. My mother, Alexander’s mother and all of the bridesmaids came to the bridal suite and we had our hair and makeup done. I put on my dress and felt so beautiful. Alexander and I did a first look by the Chicago River. I told myself I wouldn’t cry but I did! We then met up with the rest of the bridal party and went on our photo tour. Emilia Jane was our wedding photographer and she was amazing. It’s really important to pick a photographer that you feel a personal connection with, and someone who shares your vision. After making two stops around Chicago we arrived at Saint James Chapel. The ceremony was beautiful & it was such a rush. Kissing Alexander was my favorite part. After the ceremony we went to cocktails & the reception at The Murphy. Limelight did a great job with the passed hors d’oeuvres at cocktail hour and it was nice to small talk with family and friends. But my favorite part of the wedding was definitely the reception room reveal. HMR Designs did a spectacular job. The room reminded me of Beauty & The Beast. We danced the night away with Larry King Orchestra and it was the best night of our lives!
