Krysta and Garrett wanted a welcoming and romantic ambiance that would allow their guests to let loose on the dance floor and have a great time. Artifact Events was the perfect setting. The Proposal
On Friday, June 2, 2017, Krysta went to work and made plans with her friend Beth to grab drinks afterwards. Garrett decided to join them and he drove the group to Nevins in downtown Evanston. After spending some time out on the patio, Beth needed to leave to pick up her daughter in order to bring her to Krysta’s apartment for their planned dinner, which resulted in Garrett having to drive her back to Northwestern’s campus to get her car. Since the weather was so nice, Garrett suggested a walk along the lake while waiting for Beth and Mary Claire. While looking for a rock Krysta painted with her friend Allison, they came across her Northwestern blanket with a picnic set up. Neither remembers anything that happened after the moment they came across the blanket, but their friend Brittany was there to capture the moment so at least we know that Garrett got down on one knee and that Krysta cried. (To this day, no one is quite sure if Garrett asked Krysta to marry him.) After calling their parents to tell them the news, Garrett and Krysta went to Temperance Beer Co. to find a surprise party of their loved ones.
The Wedding Vision
We instantly loved Artifact Events when we first visited and decided to go with a very organic and freeform theme to match the venue. We used a lot of lush greenery with gold accents to tie each of the rooms of the venue together. With our families and friends coming from all over the country, and many meeting for the first time, we sought long farm tables and a more organic seating arrangement and reception schedule to facilitate more conversation and our loved ones meeting one another.
