Wes and Jennifer live in Florida, but chose a destination wedding in Chicago so that they, along with all of their friends, could have an entire weekend together celebrating! He Proposed in Central Park
Wes gets an A+ for this surprise proposal! It was December 27th in Central Park, NYC. He hired an amazing photographer who offered to take a picture of us beyond a little fence and claimed she was a “practicing photographer”, which seemed reasonable until a few seconds later I knew what was about to go down. Wes got on one knee and proposed with a gorgeous 2 carat diamond! Of course it was a HELL YES and then we took photos around the park, had champagne at the Plaza Hotel and enjoyed a beautiful weekend in NYC!
A Chicago Destination Wedding Weekend
Our vision was to find a super cool city to have a rustic, chic, industrial destination wedding, and to throw one heck of a party for our friends and family! We wanted it to be a whole weekend celebration, not just a day. We went to a Cubs game on Thursday night as all of our friends and family came into town. After the rehearsal on Friday night, we hosted a welcome reception for all of our guests at Kaiser Tiger. We also had a group stay on Sunday after the wedding for brunch and a little bar hopping. Something that was important to our vision was to be married in a beautiful, historic Catholic church with a lot of character. We certainly found that at St. James Chapel off Rush Street.
We wouldn’t have changed a thing about our wedding. Our reception is a favorite memory. The band, “Spoken For” (part of the Maggie Speaks family) crushed it! All of the guests told us it was “the best wedding they had ever been to”, which made us so happy! The dance floor was packed for more than 5 hours, and the band even told us what a fun group we had. Apparently it is usually hard it is to keep everyone on the dance floor the entire night, but our group partied all night long!
