Chicago Fall Wedding at Gallery 1028

Lauren and Tyler’s Chicago fall wedding at Gallery 1028 was inspired by Louis Armstrong’s “La Vie en Rose”. A stunning deep burgundy, red, and berry color palette with ever-so-slightly rustic details perfectly accented the brick walls of the venue and celebrated the autumn season. Positively gorgeous flowers from Fleur Inc in berry tones stole the show at the reception, and though these two may have been married on the rainiest October day in Chicago history, you’d never know it with all of the love and light in the beautiful images from Natalie Probst!

Our Love Story

We were only 16 and 18 years old when we first met. It was December 25, 2006 and we were introduced by mutual friends. There must have been a bit of Christmas magic in the air that night because we both fondly remember smiles and stolen glances, and we ended up talking for hours.

With a little help from our friends once again, we reconnected the next summer. The next 3 1/2 years were filled with young love, approximately one million text messages, and lots of travel, as we took on a long distance relationship between our college towns: Madison and Boston.

It was a cold February morning in 2012 when I stepped onto the train platform in Naperville to head into Chicago for the first day of my post-graduate career. Half-awake, I walked up to group of commuters awaiting the train’s arrival. As the train approached, I peeked up from under my hood and caught a glimpse of the person standing next to me. It was Tyler. In a curious case of serendipity, we started a new chapter as friends, regularly chatting on our commutes.

On March 25, 2014, we planned to grab drinks, as we hadn’t seen one another in a long time. I was a bit surprised to find out that Tyler had made a dinner reservation for two at Cafe Ba Ba Reeba. Numerous margaritas, bacon-wrapped dates, and hours of conversation later, we were the last two diners in the restaurant. Within days, I was trying to see Tyler again for another “date.” If Tyler had a plan going into that night — it worked. We were quickly falling back in love.

The Proposal

After two years of dating and building a home together in the Gold Coast, Tyler decided to plan a special weekend for my birthday. On the snow-covered Second Creek Trailhead in Colorado, Tyler got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said, “Absolutely.” With happy tears in our eyes and snow flurries falling, we slid our way back down the mountain to share the news with our loved ones.

Our Wedding Vision

Louis Armstrong’s “La Vie en Rose” was our first dance song and really represents the vision we had for our wedding day: romantic, timeless, soulful and warm. I wanted lots of garden roses and greenery, soft candlelit lighting, an industrial venue and moody fall color palette. The team at Fleur is incredible! They absolutely brought my floral vision to life and were so wonderful to work with. I also wanted the entire menu to really taste like fall so we had our tasting one year prior.
