Kuestin and Ken were married on a stunning late summer day at Room 1520. The team from Anemone Chicago designed gorgeous floral in pastel shades to bring warmth and color to the beautiful white setting. Photography by Rowan Oak Studios.
The Proposal
Ken planned a great night out for us. We went to a cooking class and then to a Second City show. Our first date was dinner and a show at Second City. I didn’t put the two together, even though looking back he was so nervous. By the end of the night, I was so tired and instead of proposing to me on our walk home we just took a cab and he decided to try the next day. At this point we had been together for about 5 years and since the beginning he would always ask me if I’d marry him and I’d say no (jokingly). The morning after our date night I was getting ready in the bathroom when he asked me if I would marry him. For some reason I finally said yes, without even looking at him. He was so nervous he said “Really?!” And put the ring on my ringer (wrong hand) and stormed out of the bathroom. I was shocked.
Chicago Wedding Vendor Love
Liz Rae – Our Officiant Liz Rae was amazing. She was so great to work with, always available, really got to know us. All this showed at the ceremony! Everyone asked how we knew her and how we found her. Because she just did such an amazing job at getting to the heart of our relationship and bringing our families into it.
Rowan Oak Studios – our photographer Gabriel made us and our guests feel comfortable. His assistant photographer was amazing as well and they were everywhere on our wedding day.
Room 1520 – The staff at Room 1520 were also so helpful and we loved working with Ashley!
Anemone Chicago – Our florist Jessica and the team from Anemone Chicago made some beautiful floral pieces for the wedding, and made the white venue feel a little more cozy. We didn’t have any ideas for florals, but we knew we wanted lots of color and a relaxed vibe. She took that and ran with it. We put our trust in her as the professional, and she went above and beyond! We loved the florals and people couldn’t get over the arch she made!!
