Industrial Glam Chicago Wedding at Ravenswood Event Center

Alexa and Yale’s Chicago wedding is equal parts industrial and vintage glamour! The setting is Ravenswood Event Center, and a soft blush and ivory palette beautifully complements the venue’s exposed wood and large windows. Florals by Anna Held Florist and photography by Jenna Marie Photography.

How We Met

We met on the dating app Bumble. Yale had his profession set as doctor even though he was in sales. We met at Lincoln Park and walked along the lake to get drinks at North Ave Beach Bar. He quickly admitted to being in sales (I already knew he was joking and made it all up) and the rest is history.

The Proposal

I came home after work and called my aunt to wish her a happy birthday. During the call Yale kept insisting we go on one of our daily walks despite it drizzling outside. I agreed to go all while still on the call with my aunt. We headed across the street to Lincoln Park and stopped right before the pond. Yale was very insistent that I end the call so we could continue our walk. I finally got off the phone and he walked me down the boardwalk to the end of the dock. There he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.

I found out later that the ring was delivered 45 minutes before I arrived home. It was burning a hole in his pocket, and he couldn’t wait to propose. I forgave him for being so impatient while I was on the phone.

The Wedding Vision

I wanted an industrial venue with soft touches. The soft color palette was romantic and elegant against the large loft venue. The colors were muted blushes and ivory with pops of metallic gold. The large atrium at Ravenswood Event Center made the ceremony bright and happy. I wanted lots of light during the ceremony. The loft during dinner was entirely lined with candles and was such a romantic setting. Back up to the atrium for dancing, it was a large room and such a party! We had multiple tables to house our Italian cookies, as well as late night eats. We wanted our guests full and happy!

DIY Details

I had a friend make all of our table numbers. She hand drew all different landmarks within Chicago. They were fabulous! I handmade our welcome sign, and a few other smaller signs with our wedding hashtag. I used acrylic and traced lettering to get the look I wanted.

Our cookie tables were all homemade cookies that my family brought in from out of town. It’s a huge tradition where I’m from to have an Italian cookie table where hundreds of homemade cookies are layered on the tables. Yale’s family and friends were shocked when they found out that my family made all the cookies and brought them to our wedding.
