The Proposal

Jeff was planning on proposing on a Friday night at home in our backyard on a huge outdoor movie screen but Amy thwarted his plans by wanting to stay downtown that night after work for dinner and drinks. On the next morning, Amy went to meet her kids with their dad at their dentist appointment and then came home and started to eat lunch at the dining room table.  Jeff told her to come upstairs to the family room because he “finally fixed a curtain rod.” Amy was highly skeptical and gave him the 3rd degree the entire walk upstairs. When she turned the corner, she saw the video screen set up in the house along with a collage of all the pictures of them through the years, a bottle of vintage champagne (that we drank the morning of the wedding!) and Jeff on one knee! After calling friends and family we went out to dinner at our favorite local Italian restaurant and headed into the city for the Bruno Mars concert!

Wedding Planning Advice

Think outside of the box from getting married in traditional venues. Consider local parks. Our ceremony was in a local public garden that was only a $200 fee and required zero décor. Hire talented vendors and let them lead the way! Hire professionals to handle the important stuff. Have a brunch wedding – we loved it!
