A spring color palette and the beautiful setting of Theater on the Lake make this gorgeous wedding from Grey Garden Creative one you won’t soon forget!
How did you meet?
We were both attending Purdue University back in 2010 when this tall, dark, and handsome man walked into my apartment. We had introduced ourselves, but were actually seeing other people. We had a mutual friend group so we became good friends. It wasn’t until a year later when were both finally single that Brandon worked up the courage to ask me out. After six years, two dogs, and three different cities together we finally decided to tie the knot!
What is your proposal story?
It definitely did not go as planned, but now we have a good laugh together about it. We were living in San Francisco and made plans to go up to Napa Valley to do some wine tasting and stay the night. We’ll our furnace had gone out at our apartment the night before and our landlord was trying to get us to come by and pick up some heaters. I had asked Brandon if he could respond to our landlord because she wanted to know if we were going to come by the next day and get these heaters. Brandon responded to me with “Why would I drive up to Novato when I’m getting engaged tomorrow?”. He immediately started crying and I tried to tell him that I’m the one who’s supposed to be crying. He was so upset because he had this big surprise planned for weeks and ruined it the night before. I still cried the next day when he popped the question!

Tell us about your wedding vision
Purple reminds me of spring and I wanted to build around a color palette of lavender and green. Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, I always knew I wanted to get married in the city. I was picturing the skyline and Lake Michigan in pictures. Our venue, Theater on the Lake, gave us the best of both worlds with the water and the skyline. It was perfect!
