Nidhi and Shivam’s colorful and fun Indian wedding was designed by Lavish Weddings and each moment of celebration was perfectly photographed by DARS Photography.
The Wedding Vision
I wanted my wedding venue to look very floral but on the softer side. I love the simple look with tons of white and light pink flowers.
My makeup artist, Makeup by Shumaila gave me all the bridal looks I wanted. She really worked with me on my vision.
How We Met
Shivam and I both attended Northern Illinois University. I would see him around campus but we had never really talked. My last year of college, Shivam had come back to NIU as an alum. I was out with my friends and he was out with his. He approached me and started talking to me. At first, I was not into the conversation. He asked me for my number, and not thinking much about it, I gave him my number. The very next day, I received a text from him. We started talking and he asked me on a date. After 5 dates, he made it official and asked me to be his girlfriend. After being with him for 6 months, I knew he was the one.
The Proposal
Shivam told me that July 8th was his company’s formal fundraising event. He told me to dress up and be up early. I woke up around 8am to be ready by 11am. He came to pick up from my house. We drove to the city. We were walking from the parking garage to Milton Lee Olive Park. I was wearing heels and complaining the entire time. I did not want to walk anymore so I kept asking “how far is this place?” We walked all the way to the end where there were roses everywhere and a box of donuts. The donuts said, “Nidhi, Will you marry me?” He got down on his knee and asked. And of course I said YES!

Wedding Planning Advice
My favorite memory was the end of the night where Shivam and I were dancing and enjoying every moment with our friends and families. As stressful as wedding planning is, always remember to take a moment to yourself and enjoy. It will all work out.
