Martineja and Brittany eloped at the Chicago City Hall with their friend Destiny alongside, and then roamed the streets of the River Walk with DeAnda Photography.
How We Met
We met when we were 16. We both were students in an internship at the city of Cleveland courthouse. Her grandmother was a judge and my dad was a city councilman. When we were getting our assignments for the summer her grandmother asked for me to work in her chambers because she had a good relationship with my dad and heard his daughter was new to the program. After a few days of working with her grandmother she would always say to me: “I really need you to meet my granddaughter, she needs friends like you. You would like her.” Soon after, we finally did meet and I was mesmerized! From that summer on our connection was magnetic and our family ties only allowed us to be closer.

The Proposal
Fast forward nearly 14 years: I proposed on her 30th birthday surprising her at dinner with the help of her best friends to keep the secret. Initially I pulled out a “will you marry me” cookie, made her giggle, and then the ring. We wanted to make things official soon after and decided to legally commit sooner rather than later in Chicago, as it has been such a big part of our growth as a couple.
