Tell us about you and your story.

What is your background and how did you find your way to the wedding industry?

When I was first breaking into wedding photography, I spent several weddings assisting, then third-shooting, then eventually second shooting. It only took one wedding to fall completely in love with this industry and having the privilege of sharing the happiest day of a couple’s lives. Nothing in the world compares with the joy I have seen in a bride when she receives her gallery of images and feels beautiful in them!

Share a little bit about Janet D Photography's history.

When did Janet D Photography launch? What are you known for?

Taking pictures with a professional camera started many years ago with families and babies. Janet D Photography was launched an official business when I broke into weddings at the beginning of 2018.

What sets you and Janet D Photography apart?

What's your secret sauce? What makes you different from everyone else?

It’s all in the posing! Being a people-centered photographer, my secret sauce is all in the experience. Not only do I want you to feel amazing when you look at yourself in your images, but I want you to feel like a million bucks through the entire process. Everyone feels little awkward in front of the camera – That’s why I’m here! I look for all of the best flattering angles and follow a posing system that will never leave you wondering what you should be doing.

Tell us about your ideal couple.

Tell us about the type of couple that really clicks with you and your company.

My ideal client is a modern, joyful bride with strong family values and an appreciation for details. She is madly in love and cannot wait to officially marry the love of her life. She recognizes the importance of preserving moments and memories so they remain timeless capsules that can be preserved for the generations to come.

What is the best advice you have for couples currently planning their weddings?

You've seen so many couples go through the planning process. Share your best pearl of wisdom for those just starting out with their planning.

Enjoy the process! This is your day, and the best part about that is you get to do things your way. Don’t feel like you have to do things to please others because the secret is you can never please everyone!

What's the ONE thing that couples shouldn't forget to ask potential wedding vendors?

Spill! What's the single most important question that couples should ask before booking a vendor for their wedding?

I actually don’t think it’s in the questions you ask, but the feelings you have when you meet with that vendor. Gut instincts are a powerful thing. Do you trust the person you’re meeting with? Anyone can have the “right” answers, but how does this person make you feel? You are, after all, going to spend your most special day with this person!

Thanks for stopping by Lakeshore in Love, Janet!
